Minor Programs


Two minors are offered at the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences at Washington State University.

Minor in Environmental Science:

A minor in Environmental Science may be certified after the completion of 90 semester credit hours. The minor requires 18 credit hours, none of which may be from the student's major department. Of these 18 credit hours, 9 must be in upper division courses and at least 12 must be in Environmental Science courses. Courses taken to meet the minor requirements cannot be taken on a pass/fail basis.

Required courses for the Environmental Science minor are ES/RP 101 (Environment and Human Life), ES/RP 335 (Environmental Policy), and ES/RP 444 (Environmental Assessment). Elective courses to be chosen in consultation with an ES/RP advisor.

Minor in Geology:

A student with 90 semester hours may certify a minor in Geology. A minor in Geology requires a minimum of 16 semester hours of letter-graded geology course work, half of which must be in upper-division course work. A minimum 2.0 GPA overall and in the minor course work is required.
