Geology Graduate Program shares teaching and research activities with the Department of Geological Sciences at University of Idaho.
Environmental Science Graduate Program is associated with the Center for Multiphase Environmental Research, Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources, Laboratory for Atmospheric Research, State of Washington Water Research Center, Social and Economic Sciences Research Center, and other research units. The participating faculty resource list for the Program includes some 150 members representing more than 40 disciplines

Admission Information:
To apply to the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences Graduate Program, you will need to put in an application with the Graduate School at Washington State University. This can be done either by applying on-line from the Graduate School website or printing out a paper version (Geology Graduate Application Packet: PDF / MS Word & Environmental Science Graduate Student Handbook: PDF). If applying on-line, the school will automatically get a copy of your application. If you apply using the paper version, you need to make sure the school receives a copy.
Admission Requirements for Geology Program:
To apply to the Geology Program, you will need to put in an application with the Graduate School. This can be done either by applying on-line from the Graduate School website or printing out a paper version (Geology Graduate Application Packet: PDF / MS Word). You need to make sure the school receives a copy.Two original transcripts must be requested. One set needs to go to the Graduate School and the other to the the Geology Program in the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences.
The Geology Program requires three letters of recommendations from academic advisors and/or academic faculty you have taken classes from.
The Geology Program also requires you to provide the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score.
International students must also provide Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score. A TOEFL score of at least 560 (Paper-Based), 220 (Computer-Based), or 83 (Internet-Based) is required.

Admission Requirements for Environmental Science & Regional Planning Program:
General WSU Graduate School requirements for admission in regular status include a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 for the most recent 60 semester hours of undergraduate or 12 semester hours of graduate academic coursework. Other requirements are a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 580 (Paper-Based), 237 (Computer-Based), or 92 (Internet-Based) for students with English as a second language.Applicants must submit the completed application form with a $35 fee, plus a statement of professional goals, for students with English as a second language, a TOEFL score, submit official transcripts of previous college work, and arrange for three (3) letters of recommendation supporting the application. For applicants applying to the PhD program, a letter of support is needed from a faculty person on the WSU campus. This can be used to fulfill the one of the 3 letters of recommendation requirement.
Students are encouraged to apply early and, if possible, to visit the university to discuss their interests with the faculty. Admission decisions cannot be made until all required application materials have been submitted to and reviewed by the Admissions Committee.
The normal cutoff dates for applications to the Program are January 15 for the fall semester and October 15 for the spring semester. Applications received after these deadlines will be considered on a lower priority basis.
